Developers and publishers understand that it's actually women who play, it's worth writing about, and that games featuring women sell. It's undeniable that in the past women in video games have been ignored at best and badly written fan services at worst.

The idea of ​​a game that limits gamers to just one genre of romance has become quite outdated, and modern video games have figured it out. Over the years, games have become more inclusive with romance options. Numerous games, especially RPGs, continue to incorporate romance into numerous character creation games. While there's only one canonical love story in Dragon Quest 11, in the form of a gem, it's not a path that players should necessarily follow in the extended version of the game.

In Hades, Zagreus can become romantically intertwined with the game's three characters.
