The outrage that hentai films have caused in America have caused them to become illegal unless you are watching them in the privacy of your own home but this has not made any difference as there is a huge following of these films. You may not realize it but hentai has been around in America just as long as it has been in Japan. Everyone knows that hentai is part of japanese culture but the place of hentai in western culture is less known. After the publications of hentai in Japan, it eventually made its way over to America. But it wasn't just the publications that went over, it was also the films too the first being Lolita Anime in 1984. This movie depicted girls dressed in school girls outfits taking part in bondage, sex and other naughty stuff. Anime has become massive and extremely colossal in America and anyone who is a hentai purist will call themselves Otaku but you must have knowledge and be very well educated in anime in order to have this name. Although there has been a decline in anime, hentai does not seem to be having the same trouble or even misfortune at this present moment and looks like it will become more popular and definitely celebrated. It is believed that the reason behind the decline in anime is because of the Internet and it is feared that it may kill off the general audience and the much needed devotees. It is a topic of much controversy and hentai remains very quiet within the American market of video and TV. Even the channels which are pay-per-view and only for adults have shown no interest either, so at the moment the only way that people are getting to watch hentai films is by mail order.

Of course we must not forget the Internet and there are many people in America who have a subscription and pay a membership fee to watch hentai online. There are many companies who provide and are only too happy to supply hentai pornography. Once the government started to realize that hentai was becoming more popular and it was becoming more sought after laws were placed upon it because of its graphic and very detailed nature. The Supreme Court could not stop people watching this sort of thing in their own homes but to anything of this nature and this kind of make-up would be illegal if it was found to be shown or purchased in any other way. They are not happy with people being seen to be committing sexual acts even if it is in animation and to stop the exploitation of girls and so to distribute, possess or to create and bring into existence images of hentai even as drawings performing an act of an explicit nature is against the morality. But in Japan it is legal.
